The Colorado National Monument is situated between Fruita and Grand Junction. The 32 square mile area features giant boulders, stone tunnels, and red rock canyons. At 450 feet, it’s the canyon’s tallest freestanding rock formation and one of the most recognizable landmarks. You can drive to Rim Rock’s Independence Monument View area and take a short walk up Otto’s Trail to reach the overlook.
