We stayed at Anglers on a three night, two fishing days package. Having never been to a fishing lodge I wasn't absolutely sure what to expect. But, Angler's had been highly recommended by close friends so we booked it. We had an incredible stay! First of all, the owners Roger and Marlene were incredibly welcoming and warm. The are fabulous hosts. Our meals were included and they exceeded our expectations. Breaktfast was continental--no time for a big meal when you need to be in the fishing boats by 5:45 a.m.! But, there was plenty of breads, cereals, sausage biscuits, etc. to choose from. A hot lunch was served both days that we were there--again, excellent. But the dinners were the highlight. Marlene is a wonderful cook and her guests definitely appreciate her talents. The rooms are simply furnished but immaculately clean. Ours had two double beds (so not the most romantic set up but fine for a couple of nights). There is a large common room that adjoins the dining area with a large satellite TV. The grounds are gorgeous. The lodge is literally on the Kenai River. We enjoyed just sitting on the swing and watching the water go by. Beautiful. The entire staff was wonderful. Or fishing guides were some really great kids who had worked at Angler's for years. Our only disappointment was that the king salmon run is pretty slow this year--not something Angler's can control. We both got kings the first day out, but nothing on day two. If you are looking for an all-inclusive fishing lodge, I would highly recommend Angler's.
