When another B&B I wanted to stay at was fully booked, they recommended the Boardwalk Lodge. What a find! We stayed in a 2-bedroom house. All houses are built on stilts on the hill overlooking the seafront. The house, built around 2004 entirely from wood, was very spacious with a fully (and well) equipped eat-in kitchen, two well-designed en-suite bathrooms, a mezzanine-level lounge with fireplace, a lower-level lounge with big TV (DSTV incl. M-NET) and a huge, partly roofed veranda overlooking the whole oceanfront, with a gas braai/barbecue grill on one side and tables, chairs and recliners. Each bedroom had its own small balcony as well. The views are to die for and ever changing. Even rainy days (quite common on the Garden Route) are enjoyable with this view. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. A great place to enjoy some wine, watch the sea & the stars at night and relax. The houses are clean and in very good condition, safe and very private. Our main regret was not to have stayed there longer. All houses are reached via plenty of stairs and boardwalks (hence the name), so a reasonable level of fitness is recommended. But it is an enjoyable and shaded walk through the hillside vegetation. The Lodge does thankfully provide porters to carry the luggage up and down on arrival and departure.
